A new worm can hack your WordPress. Please update your software!
Do you use WordPress for your blog? You do know it’s the best program out there for blogging right? Announced August 11th, WordPress creator Matt Mullenweg has confirmed a worm on the web that can register a user, set that user as an Admin and then use JavaScript to hide itself when you look at the users page. It will then go back through older postings and add spam and other malware to your old posts without your knowledge.
If you have not already done so, please update your WordPress blogs to version 2.8.4 to prevent further abuse on your sites. The worm does not affect version 2.8.4, or the release prior to 2.8.4 and will only affect people who have their own WordPress installations with a web hosting company. Blogs hosted through WordPress.org are currently unaffected.

The new version of WordPress also makes it very easy to make upgrades for the future with just a single click for the most part. If you have installed WordPress using Fantastico DeLuxe, and you do not have an upgrade button on your dashboard or main page of WordPress, you can upgrade using the upgrade button inside Fantastico DeLuxe.
